Steve Soja
Steve grew up in Fairport, NY, attending Fairport High
School where he was a three-sport athlete playing
baseball, basketball and football. Steve was a member of the 1997 State
Champion football team. He played 3 years of varsity baseball at Fairport
and played
on the Western region Empire State team his sophomore and junior years.
After having Tommy John surgery during
his senior year of high school, Steve took a medical red-shirt at the
University of South Carolina. He then chose to transfer to Coastal
Carolina University. At CCU, Steve was a member of 3 Big South Champion
teams and helped to earn 3 trips to the NCAA Division 1 Regionals. Steve
ranks in the top 10 of Coastal Carolina pitchers in
career saves and appearances.

After graduating, Steve signed on with
the River City Rascals of the Frontier League where he compiled a 3-0
record with a 3.04 ERA in his first half season of professional ball.
Steve found himself on a new team with a new role in 2004 as he got the
opportunity to start for the Mid-Missouri Mavericks. He took advantage of
this situation to solidify himself as the #1 starter on the staff.
After the Mavericks and Ohio Valley
Redcoats suspended operations for 2006, Steve was selected in the first
round of the Frontier League dispersal draft by the Gateway Grizzlies. In
his professional career, Steve has played for ex-Major Leaguers as
managers such as Jack Clark, Jim Gentile and Randy Martz.
In addition to his duties on the
‘Ropes staff, Steve also coaches football at the 7th and 8th
grade level for Fairport.
